Knowledge Management Standard ISO/AS 30401

This new standard was released in 2018 and has been adopted as an Australian Standard. While it is possible to get certified against the standard, most orgnaizations are using it as a Best Practice Guide.

Ian Fry of Knoco Australia is the Australian Organisation for Quality nominee on the Standards Australia subcommttee for this standard. He is aso the Chair of that subcommittee and also sits as the Australian representative on the ISO Working Group for the standard.

We are still seeing how the adoption and interpretation of this standard will unfold; so Ian is keen to have feedback.

Is Knowledge Management Mandatory under ISO9001?

The 2015 revision of ISO9001 introduced a new section on Organisational Knowledge (7.1.6). You will need to have many Knowledge Management elements in place in order to comply.
